Formerly known as “Postigo da Corredoura” due to its small dimensions and the fact that it communicates directly with the place where the fairs were held and where cattle ran.

It was here that carriages from Lisbon arrived, giving this space a great movement of people, animals and goods.

There were attempts to demolish this arch that were prevented by the insurrection of the poet Mário Beirão.
