Until the 19th century, the old Praça D. Manuel I had a Manueline archway on one side, however, at the end of the last century, part of these arches were demolished and the rest were covered by the owners of the houses.

In 1982, the City Council removed and restored part of the arcade, in the place where there was a fountain.
The uncovered part of the arcade is undoubtedly a point of interest that blends in perfectly with the beautiful tiled façade on the upper floor.
